Position Summary:
The primary focus of the Utility Operator is to get plant cleanliness and organization to a world class condition by assisting in the implementation of LEAN principles, including 6S and continuous improvement. The Utility Operator will participate in all aspects of cleaning, maintaining, and improvement initiatives of shop the floor areas.
Responsibilities:
Plant Painting & Cleaning:
Prepare areas of the shop floor for painting (walls, ceilings, equipment, floors, etc.)
Apply paint/coatings as directed by supervisor, keep inventory of painting supplies.
Maintain shop floor cleanliness, sweep, mop, wax floors.
Dust and wash common surfaces (i.e., walls, duct work, furniture, etc.)
Ability to work flexible hours and overtime when required.
Perform other tasks as directed by supervisor.
Maintenance:
Complete minor fabrication tasks in support of 6S initiatives. (Cutting, glueing, assembling, using hand tools)
Minor wall/floor repairs to prep for painting (drywall patching, carpet removal, etc)
Apply label’s, paint, and tape to flooring, shop aides, and other equipment to assist in the organization of department during 6S activities.
Actively interface with department personnel regarding continuous improvement efforts including cost saving and safety improvements.
Installation and maintenance of floor coatings.
Must comply with all applicable safety requirements, policies and procedures while maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work environment. Must participate in required training, medical monitoring, safety and health evaluations and programs.
