Overview of Role

WestJet is seeking a Product Owner to join our Disruption Management Solutions team in the Technology office. The Product Owner will act as a liaison between WestJet business units, internal technology teams, and a third-party software partner to ensure the delivery of high-quality disruption management technology solutions aligned with organizational goals.

This role involves managing a relationship with a software partner to prioritize features, enhancements, and bug fixes within their application in alignment with the disruption management roadmap. This role will also be responsible for building deep relationships across multiple internal technology teams and facilitating solutions between them and the software partner.

The ideal candidate will have experience in Agile methodologies, possess excellent stakeholder management skills, and demonstrate a strong understanding of software integration processes. Effective communication, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to drive outcomes in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.

Key Deliverables and Responsibilities
  • Be the subject matter expert on WestJet’s primary disruption management application, including how the integrations work, what it is capable of, and how it can be further leveraged or expanded to support future growth.
  • Work closely with third-party software partners to ensure that their products meet WestJet’s business and guest needs and manage any integration challenges that may arise.
  • Manage internal stakeholder relationships to drive business capability through disruption management technology adoption.
  • Provide regular product communication updates, including monthly roadmap reviews with internal stakeholders and progress reports on defect and issue investigation and resolution.
  • Translate complex business needs into actionable tasks, providing clear acceptance criteria and guidance to internal teams and software partners.
  • Support testing and validation of features to ensure quality and functionality.
  • Facilitate troubleshooting and issue investigation across multiple internal technology teams and third-party software partners. 
  • Continuously gather and analyze feedback to inform successful product performance decisions.
  • Assist the Product Manager in managing third-party software partner performance, KPIs, and outcomes.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 5 years related experience or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role.
  • Previous experience working with external software partners or vendors considered an asset.
  • Strong complex problem solving and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and cross-functionally.
  • Experience in business analysis and software development in large enterprises.
  • Experience working with middleware technology teams considered an assest.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to explain concepts and features to non-technical audiences.
  • Certified Product Owner certificate considered an asset.
  • Scrum certification considered an asset.
