Job Summary

The Enterprise Architect of the Technical Architecture Consulting (TAC) and Standards Team leads a Team of Solution Architects that partner across Architecture where they will create a clear vision for the value of consulting services that improve the speed and quality of technical solutions. This role will drive a vision of self-service documentation that creates solution clarity across the Architecture Team. The Enterprise Architect is an innovative thinker and collaborator who is excited to be part of meaningful and impactful initiatives and drive the future of Southwest.

Additional Details:

  • This role is offered as a regional workplace position and Employees must work in the region they support. This could require working from a mix of on-site Company facilities and remote based offices to perform the job function in a regional location determined by business need. Each Department will provide Employees with guidance on when and where presence is required with as much notice as reasonably possible. Please note, while this is a regional position, there is limited group of states or localities ineligible for Employees to regularly perform their work off-site. Those ineligible locations are: Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, Washington and Wyoming.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and coach a Team of Solution Architects or Analysts
  • Lead, support, and influence achievement of Enterprise goals and objectives through relevant architecture strategy and direction
  • Define and document the current and future architectural state of the Enterprise, including performing gap analysis and generating transitional architectures
  • Define, promote, and enforce Enterprise standards and industry best practices, including maintaining reference architectures that model solution expectations
  • Ensure ongoing architectural solutions align to Enterprise goals and standards
  • Maintain active relationships with relevant business and technology Leadership and Stakeholders
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain ongoing architectural relevancy
  • Seek opportunities to improve SWA technical competency
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee&39;s Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of technology systems and related theory, practices, and concepts
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Ability to understand and apply information to contribute to the organizations strategic plan
  • Ability to bring others together and trying to reconcile differences
  • Ability to use persuasive verbal and non-verbal techniques with Executive and non-Executive-level Stakeholders to achieve the desired architectural outcomes
  • Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)
  • Ability to translate deep and complex technical concepts into easy to understand language for Stakeholders
  • Skilled in diagramming software (Microsoft Visio, draw.io)
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Required: Bachelor&39;s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field and/or equivalent formal training

Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
  • Fully functioning, broad knowledge in a Business, engineering, and/or Information Technology environment
  • Preferred: Experience with Enterprise Architecture, Technical Architecture (ex. application architecture, data architecture, infrastructure architecture, cloud architecture, security architecture or other technical discipline)
  • Preferred: Broad technical expertise including but not limited to: AWS Cloud, custom application development, DevOps practices, IT infrastructure, enterprise data and emerging technology trends), consulting and Customer service, organizational management, highly organized and self-motivated, process development, architecture or engineering standards development, implementation and communication, architecture governance, ability to build relationships and work across other architecture and IT Teams
  • Preferred: Experience with EA Frameworks, Enterprise Architecture Management tools (bonus if LeanIX, airline IT)

  • N/A

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information
  • Air travel with frequent overnight stays required
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed

Pay & Benefits

Competitive market salary from $175,150 per year to $194,600 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
