Position Summary:

Level One Brake Press Operators, working under direct supervision, interpret work instructions and routers as well as gather related work docs. They will perform basic equipment setup and operation tasks including locating and loading tooling on a variety of presses, manual and automatic. They will perform basic part layouts to mylar or print, and perform basic press operations of 1-3 bends working with reference tolerances. Level One Brake Press Operators complete required paper work as well as perform in process inspections utilizing basic inspection hand tools such as calipers, scribes and protractors. May also perform other basic sheet metal working duties. Typically 0-1 year of experience.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Under direct supervision, perform basic setup of brake presses and related forming equipment. This includes loading and positioning tooling and fixtures for various metal forming operations.
  • Execute basic part layouts using Mylar templates or blueprints, and perform press operations involving 1-3 bends, ensuring parts meet specified tolerances and dimensions according to customer specification.
  • Perform basic material forming operations using basic forming equipment and tools according to customer specification.
  • Conduct in-process inspections using basic hand tools such as calipers, height gauges, micrometers, and protractors to verify dimensional accuracy and part conformity to customer specification.
  • Safely handle and store raw materials and finished products. Maintain organization and cleanliness in the work area throughout the shift, adhering to 5S principles

Required Skills:

  • Basic understanding and use of hand tools and forming tools, including clamps, presses, and fixtures.
  • Proficiency in using basic inspection tools such as height gauges, micrometers, calipers, inspection blocks, and protractors for verifying part dimensions and tolerances.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Basic visual and dimensional inspection skills to ensure conformance to customer specifications.
  • Basic shop math skills, including the ability to calculate measurements and tolerances.

Required Experience:

  • This position requires basic experience working with mechanical processes and methods such as hand tools, and light equipment such as drills and pneumatic tools, presses and heat-treating ovens.
  • 0-1 year of experience in metal forming, manufacturing, or a related field.

Level of Education:

GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $19.5 to $22.50 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 104 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays.
