Job Description:

Position SummaryReporting to the Avionics Manager, the Avionics AME Apprentice will assist with servicing, inspecting, repairing, and performing maintenance on aircraft avionics systems while learning and developing the necessary skills to obtain their AME Licence with an “E” rating. Under supervision, the apprentice will perform routine and non-routine tasks to ensure that avionics work is completed in compliance with applicable airworthiness standards.Personal CharacteristicsHighly flexible, with the ability to respond quickly in a dynamic environmentProfessional and respectful, with a positive work attitudeTimely with a high level of commitment to on-time performance is essentialMotivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a teamEffective verbal and written communication skillsProven time management skills with strong attention to detailHigh level of respect, understanding and regard for First Nations communitiesKey Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesAssist in performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on avionics systems and componentsLearn to operate calibrated test equipment to conduct functional and operational testsAid in troubleshooting, repairs, rebuilds, installations, modifications, and testing of avionics systemsHelp maintain a clean and organized work environmentLearn to understand and apply safety procedures and avionics manualsMarshal and tow aircraft as neededActively participate in the Company’s Safety Management SystemPerform additional duties as assignedMinimum Education, Experience and CertificationsHigh school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalentDemonstrated interest in obtaining an AME Licence with an “E” ratingMust be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizationsIndigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an assetWorking ConditionsPhysically able to perform all listed job dutiesTravel by aircraft and other means as required by roleWork in a shop environment with full range of movement including, but not limited to, bending, sitting, standing, lifting to a maximum of 50lbs, pushing and pulling dailyWork performed both indoors and outdoors; employee must be able to adapt to all outdoor weather conditionsVarious shifts at a fast pace in order to meet service level requirements of the airline Methods and procedures described or implied in the job profile may be altered to accommodate employees.
