The opportunity
The MQ-28 Ghost Bat program is entering an exciting growth phase, and BDA is looking for exceptional commercial operators who want to work on complex and strategically important efforts. We are seeking an experienced Senior Contracts Lead to support our complex contracting framework in support of the design, test, manufacture and sale (including export opportunities) of the MQ-28 system. This is an individual contributor role, with the opportunity to lead others through mentoring and by setting a professional example.

Reporting to the Manager - E-7 & MQ-28 Contracts, the role requires a breadth of technical and commercial strategy responsibilities and will play a key role in supporting BDAs growth.
Key Responsibilities for this position include:
- Provide strategic advice and support to the MQ-28 program on contractual and commercial issues.
- Deliver key commercial milestones and orders, all the while balancing the customers requirements with advancing BDAs goals and strategies.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior customer stakeholders on all contract and commercial matters.
- Lead contract negotiations to achieve the BDAs desired commercial outcomes.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the MQ-28 commercial team, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Support and mentor more junior contracts colleagues
- Work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, to achieve BDAs strategic goals.
- Exercise appropriate signature authority in negotiating and executing contractual instruments on behalf of the company.
Experience and Qualifications
- Essential:
- Formal qualifications in a related discipline (Law (preferred), Business, Finance, Engineering)
- Advanced skills in complex contracting, commercial management and negotiation
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop contracting specialists
- Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong commercial acumen
- Excellent drafting skills
- Desirable
- Australian Defence industry experience
- Knowledge of and experience working with the Australian Standard Defence Contracting (ASDEFCON) Suite of Templates
- Demonstrated experience in formulating innovative contractual and commercial acquisition and sustainment strategies for proposals
