Work environment: GE Aerospace facility located in Islip, Long Island is dedicated to the design and manufacture of power conversion & control products, Battery systems, Lighting Controllers, Frequency Converters, Digital Control Products, Control Panels, Inverters, Power supplies and Advanced power conversion applications.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Expertly wind various transformers and magnetic devices, including bobbins, toroid, and layer windings.
Perform mechanical assembly of transformers with precision and care, ensuring each step is complete and meets quality specifications.
Execute pull winding and layer winding tasks efficiently.
Solder various components with accuracy and attention to detail.
Assemble and wire a variety of magnetic components to meet quality specifications.
Independently complete PC board assembly and soldering, chassis wiring, and inspection tasks.
Follow operation sheets, engineering drawings, and change orders meticulously.
Maintain accurate records of direct labor time for specific product amounts.
Utilize a variety of small hand tools and production equipment effectively.
Provide training and mentoring to fellow employees as needed.
Communicate effectively in both written and oral forms regarding various situations.
Keep your workstation, tools, and equipment organized and orderly.
Adhere to all company safety rules and regulations.
Engage and participate in a self-directed teaming environment.
Requirements/Knowledge:
Education:
Experience:
1-3 years of manufacturing experience, particularly with military-grade transformers.
Proficiency in mechanical assembly and soldering, including rework.
Knowledge of wire types and installation systems.
Previous experience using hand tools.
Skills:
Proficiency in handling basic tools and measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, and radius gauges.
Basic computer skills and simple mathematical counting abilities.
Ability to interpret drawings, operation sheets, and perform in-process inspections.
Good dexterity skills and hand-eye coordination.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in winding (pull winding, bobbin, and layer winding).
Ability to interpret winding sheets, part lists, and mechanical drawings.
Experience in a self-directed teaming environment.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
The base pay range for this position is $20 - $25/hr., depending on experience. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This posting is expected to close on 2/15/2025.
