The Role: Technical Engineer – Powerplant!
Would you like to join us as a Powerplant Technical Engineer with responsibility for handling the safety, reliability, operational performance, and maintenance costs of our engines and APUs?
It is a role that will allow you to design and develop technical and commercial solutions for our operating fleet by working collaboratively with aviation authorities, key suppliers and colleagues across the airline. You’ll be aware that the British Airways Boeing fleet is complex, with the need to maintain the reliability of the A320, A380 and B777 as well as embracing the new technologies of the A350, B787 and B777X.
It is a great opportunity to develop your career both in the technical field and within the wider community. You will be given the support to gain Technical Engineer Part M, Part 145 and Part 21 CCE & CVE approvals with potential career development to Senior Technical Engineer, Technical Team Leader and Management roles.

What you’ll do: - Accountable for reviews, evaluation and approval of technical documentation that ensures the organisation operates in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner.
- Supports optimal technical decision making across the team and leads technical discussions across departments, considering the business effects.
- Responsible for maintaining technical standards, policy and strategic direction including scoping the impact of and influencing, future legislation.
- Acts as a consultant on technical and airworthiness matters on behalf of British Airways with internal and external suppliers, customers, and regulatory bodies.
- Hold and exercise EASA Part M, Part 145 and Part 21 technical engineer approvals as required by the role.
- Maintains oversight of fleet reliability, monitoring fleet technical performance and developing improvement plans to ensure performance targets are achieved.
- Leading or supporting technical investigations in line with the corporate safety management manual.
- Prioritising workload and taking appropriate action to maintain compliance with all appropriate company.
- procedures, policies, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Reports, presents, and communicates operational and business performance and significant events to senior.

- Experience of effective supplier management
- Hands on aircraft/engine/product experience desirable
Your experience: - Ability to hold CAA / EASA approvals or BA company.
- approvals (e.g. Part-21J Part-145 & Part-M) (Essential)
- HNC / HND or equivalent in an Aerospace Engineering
- Recognised Aircraft Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent
- Proven experience (Essential)
- Degree in an Aerospace Engineering subject (Desirable)
- EASA pt66 Licence (Desirable)
