Summary

This Principal Mechanical Engineer is recognized as the primary authority and key technical resource in Mechanical Engineering or associated fields inside and outside FM&T. This role is responsible for planning and conducting complex engineering research and development projects while applying advanced knowledge in Mechanical Engineering. This role is also responsible for working under administrative direction while demonstrating autonomous actions, decisions, and acting independently to resolve issues.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leads strategic planning for a long-range resource technology, major technical projects or more than one project of major scope and complexity that significantly impact the business.
  • Plans, organizes, and conducts complex engineering projects necessitating expert application of advanced knowledge in a particular field.
  • Originates and applies new, innovative, and unique methods and procedures.
  • Evaluates the impact of relevant emerging technology and business trends. Uses business knowledge and contacts to perceive, evaluate, and prioritize business opportunities based on economic and technical factors.
  • Prepares comprehensive proposals and cost estimates, evaluates progress, and results, and recommends and directs the implementation of major revisions in approaches and objectives.
  • Champions initiatives to resolve critical processes and technological-related issues, and development of novel technology, integrative approaches to key problems facing FM&T, and/or significant advances in Honeywell & FM&T capabilities.
  • Negotiates complex states of work, schedules, budgets, and anticipates and resolves issues regarding customer relationships. May negotiate critical issues with other companies and organizations.
  • Advises and consults as technical expert to other technical and administrative personnel to drive and implement short and long-term projects.
  • Leads, trains, and mentors lower-level engineers, scientists, and technicians.
You Must Have
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited program in Engineering or Physics.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in engineering or related technical activities.
  • United States Citizenship.
  • Ability to travel up to 15 of the time.
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
We Value
  • 2+ years experience in a Technical Leadership role, such as Lead Engineer.
  • Demonstrates application as a recognized technical expert with technical insight in applying advanced knowledge in relative engineering and scientific fields.
  • Demonstrates successful application of strategic planning skills with respect to technical staff skill growth, technical road map development and Engineering-wide initiatives
