Our site near Culpeper, VA, in beautiful, rural Orange County (1.5 hours from Washington, DC) is growing! This site is Aerojet Rocketdyne’s center of excellence for Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion and Energetics development as well as high-complexity production programs.
Essential Functions
The role will be supporting rocket propulsion materials and process development.
After orientation and training, intern will perform entry-level engineering assignments under direct supervision of other engineers following established procedures and policies.
The positions will support senior engineering staff and provide experience and familiarization with our programs, processes and products.
Projects may include materials engineering support for propellant development and production manufacturing and test, assisting in the selection of materials and formulations for product application, tailoring of the propellant formulation to the design allowables from literature and experimental data, the performance of material/propellant properties to the design allowables, and the generation of technical reports and presentations to document technical conclusions/findings.
Qualifications
Candidate must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering (or similar major), and be returning to school upon completion of the assignment.
Preferred Additional Skills
3.2 GPA or above
