Job Description:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

  • Develop and implement procedures and methods to control quality of produced cabinets.
  • Serve as the point of contact in case of any quality issue on cabinets from veneer receiving up to finished cabinet.
  • Serve as the point of contact in case of any quality issue on cabinets for Dassault Aviation.
  • Conduct investigations at the request of DFJ production or Dassault Aviation customer service
  • Lead veneer selection and receiving at vendor and in house (veneer mapping).
  • Manage monitoring of finish process control using statistical process control (SPC) on key parameters and test samples to assess finish quality.
  • Lead new testing methodology development along with the test laboratory to monitor finish process control and ensure timely test performance on follow-up coupons.
  • Work closely with QC Inspection Team in Cabinet Shop and Upholstery Shop to review and solve quality issues.
  • Participate in any finish process improvement which defines QA needs and tools to guarantee finish process control.
  • Provide synthesis report on finish performances and trends of DFJ finish.
  • Participate in cabinet shop audit on processes and lead corrective actions.
  • Supports Spec and Design as wood specialist and in some cases contribute in educating customers.
  • Lead selection and qualification of new wood species and vendors.
  • Lead qualification of new wood veneer application and processes.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering with special emphasis on wood design, veneer or associated technologies. May substitute one (1) year of college education for two (2) years of relevant work experience.
  • 5 years of experience in wood engineering industry.
  • Strong knowledge of wood veneer market and furniture industry.
  • Knowledge and previous successful implementation of process mapping and 5M methods.
  • Knowledge and previous successful implementation of measurements techniques for coatings.
  • Strong knowledge in laboratory testing, reporting and management.
  • Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft programs and web-based systems.
  • Ability to communicate technical information and to make synthesis.
  • Ability to manage and solve technical issues.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Pass vision testing, minimum 20/20 corrected, and with no limitations in color perception.
