To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a motivated, reliable professional to join our team as a Safety Auditor in our Safety Department. The primary responsibility of the position is to conduct regularly scheduled and unscheduled internal evaluation safety and security audits. The auditor tracks internal evaluation audits, inspections, observations, reports, and responses. This role also maintains internal evaluation files and assists with department statistical presentations and required management reports. The successful candidate will possess strong operational or safety educational experience and professional qualifications in aviation. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Regulatory Compliance.
Essential Duties:
Conduct scheduled and unscheduled safety and security evaluations, audits, inspections, and observations
Utilize various Data Collection Tools (DCT) and internal evaluation checklists
Evaluate compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Regulations and federal and state environmental regulations and programs
Conduct hazard risk assessments and root cause analysis while actively supporting the company’s Safety Management System (SMS)
Conduct International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audits (IOSA) to ensure company maintains conformity with the IOSA standards and recommended practices (IASRPS)
Assist in the support of the American Airlines and Piedmont Airlines Emergency Response Programs
Assist with data trend analysis and reporting
Participate in prioritization of planned evaluations and audits using risk assessment techniques
Understand and promote the corporate safety culture, policies, and goals; take measures to implement these ideas throughout the company
Job Qualifications and Competencies:
Possess strong operational or safety educational experience and professional qualifications in aviation
Ability to work independently, set and meet multiple deadlines
Ability to work well with all levels of management and support staff
Knowledge of airline flight, maintenance, and ramp operations as well as company policies regarding safety and security
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to process and analyze data to present reports in a logical manner
Knowledge of Safety Management System (SMS)
Flexible work schedule and travel required
Knowledge of IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA)
General knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), OSHA/Environmental Regulations, and procedures applicable to airline safety
Preferred Qualifications:
Hold a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Pilot Certificate, Mechanic Certificate, Dispatch Certificate, other similar aviation credentials, or a relevant undergraduate/graduate degree
Three (3) years of civilian or military aviation experience in flight, technical operations, maintenance, ramp operations, or a combination of all
Previous airline auditing or safety/security investigation experience
Academic safety education or training
Training in SMS (14 CFR Part 5)
Work Environment:
Standard office environment, use of telephones, computers, and other office equipment
Airport ramp environment (subject to varied weather conditions and elevated noise levels)
Extensive travel is required

Starting Rate:
