The PMO Planning and Controls Analyst plays a significant part in the Planning and Monitoring/Controlling Process Groups within Project Management. The Project Planner will team-up with the Project Manager to form a cadence of actions and reviews that will help the project teams perform to the projects requirements and deliverables, on time and within budget.In this role, tasks include schedule creation, schedule updates, schedule variance analysis, schedule and cost integration, Earned Value Management and analysis, change management, resource demand profiles, multiple reporting documents and project dashboard reviews.Role details include creating, updating, and analyzing Schedules in various tools like Open Plan and MS Project, with a sound cadence of reviewing the Critical Path to meet the projects deliverables. The PMO Analyst will also manage Cost integration into our Earned Value Management System and track/analyze/report performance to our baseline. There will be a set of monthly reports that will be sent out to keep our internal customers informed of project status regarding schedule and cost performance.At GE Aerospace in Dayton, OH the EPISCenter is the headquarters for all of Aviation Power Engineering. At this facility you have an opportunity to put your engineering training and skills to use. Our Engineers are focused and challenged on developing new technologies and delivering state of the art products such as Hybrid Electric aircraft, the latest military platforms, and SiC technology to name a few. Plus, if you like hands-on work, there is also a 155,000 sq ft lab that includes 6 high power test cells totaling 15 MW, an EMI chamber, an electronics lab, a rapid build prototype lab, and a real time simulator lab with all the latest equipment.

Job Description

Role Overview

  • Responsible for monitoring schedule progress and partnering with the desired Subject Mater Experts on schedule risks, constraints, opportunities, and other scheduling needs.
  • Critical Path Analysis
  • Creates Schedule What-If models and presents outcome to IPT.
  • Maintains an operating cadence where project performance is updated monthly and integrated into our Earned Value Management Tool
  • Understand what the Earned Value information is saying about the projects performance and provides recommendations to the team on potential scenarios that will prevent further degradation of performance to baseline.
  • Helps manage and document all the change management scenarios regarding adjustments to the projects baseline.
  • Ensures other functions have access to accurate current reports and projections and relevant reports are available for the customer.
  • Will deliver on a Project Management Cadence that includes Schedule Management, Schedule Variance Analysis, Change Management, Forecasting, Demand Profiles, and other project deliverables, related to reporting within the Integrated Product Team meetings.
  • Collaborates with multiple functional teams, integrates with other interdivisional teams, and contributes to the projects goals and objectives. (Engineering, Finance, Sales, PMO)
  • Will have autonomy to make informed suggestions to the IPT team regarding project execution.
  • May provide guidance in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures.
  • Will participate in Director and Executive level meetings that address Project Health and may help the Project Manager deliver the projects message to leadership.
  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills.
  • Develops strong internal customer relationships and serves as the interface between the project team and the business.
  • Explains programmatic variables to others.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of related experience)

  • Plus, a minimum of 7 years of experience in Project Management & Project Planning
  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens.  GE will require proof of status.

Additional Information

  • There may be a need for travel, although not expected.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS Project knowledge beyond basic schedule creations.
  • Preferred platform for scheduling experience, MS Project, with the ability to adapt to other scheduling tools like Deltek Open Plan.
  • High competency with MS Office Tools, particularly Excel (pivot tables, X or VLOOKUP) Word, and Power Point.
  • EVMS Proficiency
  • PMP Certification or some formal training on the PMBOK guidelines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience building, updating, and leading schedules and their reviews.
  • Understands change management in regard to updates within the schedule and its Control Accounts. Channel baseline change requests.
  • Knows how to interpret Project Dashboards in regard to SPI.
  • Ability to influence and gain trust within different skill levels and hierarchies in the business.

This position may be eligible for the following flexible work arrangements (FWA):

  • Candidates must reside locally for a hybrid work schedule (i.e. 3 days onsite at the Dayton, OH facility and 2 days remote)
