Machine Programmer / Automation Specialist

Coordinates complex programming and project management for Product Validation of Tools, Assemblies and Component utilizing state of the art Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Robotics, Vision Systems and other Quality related automation/tools.  Ensures parts conform to dimensional specifications and equipment achieves throughput efficiency.

 

Responsibilities

  • Programs, qualifies and validates CMM, Vision Systems Robotics and other Quality related automation equipment and ongoing programming support.
  • Safely and economically develops programming of equipment to support the verification of Engineering specifications, design and quality requirements taking into consideration such factors as part presentation, throughput, full utilization of equipment capabilities, overcoming challenges with technology, infrastructure, and environment.
  • Determines requirements and configuration of difficult to interrogate requirements by analyzing drawings, sketches, and design data of part.
  • Coordinates and oversees the verification and validation process including complete follow-up on all related operational procedures, documentation and communications. Assures accuracy by comparing programming to applicable requirements.
  • Plans, develops and manages overall project implementation, including budget, timeline and KPIs.
  • Responsible for program improvements or modifications.   
  • Analyzes proposed changes and contributes to continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production activities. Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses. Lead special projects in applying continuous improvement techniques and implementing changes.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.
  • May provide leadership to others in department. Acts as prime contact on high level projects. Establishes goals and objectives required to complete projects. Trains and mentors less experienced employees.
  • Shares specialized knowledge with others. Serves as a resource to others in resolving a variety of problems.  Supports the team by accomplishing related results as needed. Work assignments may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of a related trade school program, or equivalent external training in CMM, Robotics or Vision Systems. 
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through seven or more years of related experience.
  • knowledge of key control programming principles, concepts, and techniques. Ability to correct and optimize programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes. 
  • Ability to develop processes that better integrate programming practices. 
  • Ability to effectively apply continuous improvement methods. 
  • Ability to work on a variety of problems of diverse scope and complexity where analysis and evaluation of various outcomes require tradeoffs.
  • Ability to solve a wide range of difficult problems in imaginative and practical ways and evaluate alternative solutions that may require coordination across multiple teams. 
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives to develop, manage and complete projects. 
  • May require ability to use standard business software applications and/or specialized design, data analysis, or database tools. 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies and recommend changes to procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and top management. 
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal-setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.
